"Remember to Remember"

Serdang's Hee Lai Ton & Kajang's Fortuna Palace

It's kinda hard for us to bid this year's CNY goodbye, which is only a few days away.
As all of us are aware, CNY's main agenda would be the food spread, welcoming the spirit of family & friends gathering.

It is almost a non-escape tradition; dining in typical Chinese restaurants offering sets with 'RM' that incorporates the number 88 in their menu.
Allow us to share with you, one of the popular Chinese restaurants in our area, that most readers already know, I think.. :)

We decided to go for their ala-carte instead of getting our palate tied down to the set menu.

Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant

We must say their food quality has improved a lot over the previous years, after the make-over and upgrading. We've tried their set menu was was pretty impressed. Thanks to Chris's family, I get a chance to try their PUN CHOY for the very first time after so many years, I must say... ;P

We went for this RM338 Pun Choy Set that came with:
  • Yee Sang
  • Shark Fin's Soup with Crab Meat
  • Special Big Platter (PUN CHOY)
  • Fancy Pastries
  • Iced Longan & Pudding
Pun Choy is a Hakka dish that is usually served in either a wooden, porcelain or metal basin. This is special in a way that it is made up and arranged with many layers of different ingredients. It should be eaten layer by layer instead of stirring everything up. This share that we had is composed of tung poh yuk (pork) poached chicken, duck, abalone, fish maw, prawn, different types of mushrooms, fishballs, dried oyster with fatt choy, pigskin, beancurd, Chinese radish & yam.

Their pun choy looks good. The prawn is so nice or is it because your photography skill is so good Chris? lol

My family went to Hee Lai Ton-Serdang for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. We make a reservation
a week before and took the RM 602-00 package. Reached the destination
at 6.30 p.m. and request to be served. The first dish was only served at 7.10 pm and what was served was some sort like a dim sum (fried stuff) section of which we were expecting for a four season dish. Upon enquiry the captain took away the dish without any explanation. At 7.30 p.m. the four season finally arrived and in between every dish there is a break of around 20 minutes to 1/2 an hour of which our dinner only ended at 9.00 p.m. and moreover is after a lot of wrestle and complaints. What was even frustrated was after each dish the empty plates was left unattended on the table even when the next new dish was served. This was the worst dinner I've taken beside some wedding dinners and I swear I would not step my foot to this rest. again no matter how good the food is . SERVICE matters a lot !!
